COURSE DESCRIPTION
Prerequisite: Successful completion of two semesters of physical education.
This course is designed for students who have interest in officiating high school sports. Students will be introduced to the rules and techniques of officiating team sports including: football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball. Students will also learn important characteristics of becoming an official. In addition to learning the rules and mechanics of officiating, students will have the opportunity to demonstrate these learned skills. Students enrolled in this course will be required to officiate a variety of team sports within other physical education classes offered at Minooka Community High School. Students will be also be given the opportunity to become licensed in any of the sports covered. Licensed students will be given contact information to assist them in finding officiating jobs within the area.
